Our Dawn chorus bird walk on April 11 at 6.15am
You are invited to come to the Heavens Valley in Stroud to hear the dawn chorus and learn about birds and their songs from local ecologist Simon Pickering.
Simon will be explaining why birds sing and revealing the fascinating science and folklore behind their song – hear about birds with regional accents, Mozart’s pet starling, and why wrens used to be hunted. He will also be giving you glimpses into the ecology of the Heavens Valley.
Please wear warm clothes. Walking boots or wellies are advised as the valley can be muddy and the ground is very uneven and steep in parts. Please bring binoculars if you have them.
Parking around the Bowbridge Lane entrance is limited so please leave in plenty of time.
We expect the event to last between one and one and half hours.
We have tried to keep the pricing of this event as low as possible but we do need to cover our costs and so we would also encourage everyone to donate as well, if you can. We have lots of costs involved in running the Heavens Valley CBS - everyday costs like insurance and all our systems so all our brilliant volunteers can carrying doing their fantastic work. Thank you!
We would like this event to be open for all. We have a number of free tickets available so if you’d like to take part but the entrance fee would be unaffordable right now, please contact info@heavensvalley.org.uk
Please note - we will be running another walk early in May.
